Future Digital Inclusion – Funded by: Department for Education (DfE)

Since 2014, the Online Centres Network has supported more than 1 million people to learn basic digital skills through the Future Digital Inclusion (FDI) programme funded by the Department for Education and predecessor Departments, making a significant contribution to closing the digital skills gap in the UK.

KBM Partnership with Good Things Foundation:

KBM Consultants worked with Good Things Foundation to help those people who have the lack of basic Digital Skills.

The programme helped people of all ages and backgrounds, some with limited digital skills and others with none, and many experiencing significant material and psychological barriers to successful learning outcomes. KBM Online Centres responded to this diversity by offering support tailored to individual needs, helping learners to build their confidence in using digital technology and achieve personally relevant outcomes.

Key Findings:

• FDI worked well for many learners because it provided support that was personally relevant and focused on motivation.
• More than 80% of those supported said they had progressed to further learning.
• FDI helped learners to progress to further learning and positive employment outcomes.
• 66% have progressed to employment-related activity.
• FDI is particularly important for learners with low skills and confidence.
• More than 80% of those supported faced one or more barriers related to social exclusion.
