16-18 Traineeships

If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 and are unsure about your professional choice, you should pursue a 12-week traineeship with KBM. A genuine opportunity to gain job experience and learn new skills, as well as career advancement in a professional setting.

Suitability & Eligibility

  • Unemployed and have little or no work experience
  • Motivated to work
  • Aged 16 – 18 and qualified below level 3
  • Ready for employment or an Apprenticeship within six months of engaging with a Traineeships
  • Traineeships can be run as part time

16-18 Traineeship Coverage

If you wish to pursue an apprenticeship, KBM Traineeship programmes are an excellent approach to get you ready for work. The Traineeship is a Pre-Apprenticeship training programme for 16–18-year-olds that prepares them for the workforce.

To assist companies in recruiting and filling identified skills gaps in their workforce, KBM has designed tailored programmes for Traineeships 16-18 and Classroom programmes for Accounting and Business Administration Sectors. We provide essential employment skills as well as accounting and business administration abilities to young people. Other characteristics include:

  • Work preparation training, developing a personal statement and job searching
  • English and maths support (unless the young person has already achieved a GCSE A* – C in those subjects or a functional skills qualification at level 2)
  • A quality work experience placement with an employer, last from six weeks to five months.
  • Traineeships can be run as part time

Programme Benefits

  • Traineeships are stepping stone for young people before being employed in a permanent role or before starting an Apprenticeship. They help young people to get ready for the work.
  • Traineeships are flexible way of working with employers, adding to the content of Traineeships to meet the needs of the individual and the sector.
  • At completion, the young person will be guaranteed a job interview if a role becomes available or an exit interview together with meaningful written feedback to help them secure an apprenticeship or employment with another employer.
  • Traineeships are an ideal opportunity for young people, who are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.
  • Those who have been unsuccessful when applying for an apprenticeship or other job due to a lack of skills and experience are most likely be good candidates for a traineeship.

Funding Support

Employers are not required to pay you for participating in a traineeship, although they may help you with transportation and meals. The work placement is a fantastic way to obtain valuable professional experience.

You may be eligible for financial assistance from a training provider depending on your specific circumstances, such as travel and childcare fees, or if you require additional assistance due to a handicap. Your Jobcentre may be able to assist you financially if you are getting welfare benefits. The government will cover the price of training.
